BO-beau Kitchen & Cache

BO-beau kitchen and Cache’ officially opened on Thursday, May 18 at 1027 University Avenue in Hillcrest. It’s a charming neighborhood bistro that doesn’t look too terribly different from its predecessor, 100 Wines.

We were fortunate enough to attend their “mock service” prior to opening to make sure all was ready for their guests. The best tables in the house are on the back patio next to the fireplace where it is very peaceful and easy to carry on an intimate conversation. The front dining room and the patio on University Avenue also provide a festive vibe and the ability to watch the world float by around you.

Cocktails here are great and I had a Havana Mule which is a delightful concoction of Havana Club Rum, pineapple, ginger, soda and lime. And then there’s the From Milan to Minsk made with Svedka Vodka, Maurin Bianco, house-made raspberry puree, lemon, bitters and soda. The list of craft cocktails goes on and you must try one!

For dinner, the Crispy Brussels Sprouts are a “can’t miss” starter. For entrees we enjoyed Lamb Ragu Pappardelle which was sinfully flavorful with nice firm, thick noodles. The Lobster Risotto is perfectly cooked and something I know I’ll be back for.

The coolest part about this place is Cache’, the secret “speakeasy” type bar located in the back of the Libertad taco shop next door. Just walk all the way to the back where the freezer doors are. Open the one directly in front of you and you’re transported to another world of dim lighting, chandeliers and an all-around sexy atmosphere. Both places are huge winners and deserve to be on your list of regular haunts.

Enjoy!
