Nothing says “morning after” or “night before” like Social Tap. Social Tap has two locations in San Diego, one just north of Petco Park’s outfield and one close to SDSU. I checked out the fare at the Petco location and boy was I happy I did! Located in a rustic brick building at 815 J Street, the place has a relaxed pub like atmosphere with lots of places to sit at the bar and watch the multiple flat screens showing everything you’d want to watch. I thought it was particularly enjoyable to sit and look out over the ballpark and feel the cool breeze coming through the open walls. This is really and great place to chill.
Service here is super friendly and very attentive. Our server shared with us that everything on the menu is made with fresh ingredients and that they say “no” to freezers. The menu is pretty simple, but chocked full of comfort food. The Tacos are now my official “go to” food when I need to lose myself in some pork belly.
The tacos are incredible and the Pork Belly version is served with pineapple salsa and chipotle aioli. Beyond delicious! Combine that with the Filet Mignon Truffle Tacos filled with a mushroom, pablano and shallot mix with chili cheese sauce and black truffle salt, and you won’t stop smiling. Wash it all down with one of their 30 local craft beers and you have the perfect taste of San Diego.
So as they say at Social Tap, “Come Early, Stay Late!” Enjoy!
