Acquavite La Jolla

Just a few months old, a new addition has appeared on restaurant row Prospect street in downtown La Jolla. With a Tuscan theme and two chefs who hail from that part of Italy, Acquavite offers fresh dishes to bring Tuscany to your plate.

Roast Chicken on Sizzling Salt Block

Tempted in the menu by the CINGHIALE E ROSMARINO (braised wild boar ragout, rosemary scented risotto, parmigiano reggiano) and the traditional SALTIMBOCCA DI POLLO (chicken scaloppini, prosciutto di parma, fresh sage), the special was a small chicken on a heated salt block with grilled vegetables.

The chicken was crispy and stayed piping hot as it rested on the sizzling salt block. The freshness of the vegetables was not lost in the grilling and sported the char that makes for such great taste.

Soon to get their full liquor license, the wine list presents a strong Tuscan bent but includes wines from all over Italy plus a few standards.

And then came dessert: an Amoretti Trifle and a rich affogato topped off the evening.
