Celebrate the Year of the Dragon at Musical Instrument Museum

The most important traditional Chinese holiday, Chinese New Year is a time to welcome good health and prosperity and forget about any troubles of the past. In Chinese tradition, each year is dedicated to one of twelve animals; 2012 is the Year of the Dragon.

A wealth of activities will take place at MIM from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including the traditional Lion Dance; performances on the guzheng and the pipa; folk songs by the Arizona Chinese Chorus; tai chi, wushu, and Sichuan face-changing demonstrations; original artwork creation; and a craft activity for all ages. A special Chinese-inspired menu featuring dishes such as “Feng Shui Sweet and Sour Shrimp Soup” and “Lion’s Head Meatballs” will also be available for purchase in the MIM Café from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. .
